The Family of Nicholas Pooran

In an interview, Pooran explained how his mother, Latchmi Pooran, had supported him throughout his journey to become a professional cricket player.

IPL Career of Nicholas Pooran

After being selected by Punjab Kings (PBKS) for INR 4.2 crore in 2019, Nicholas Pooran, a left-handed hitter with tremendous power, made his IPL debut.

Pooran showed glimpses of his potential in his first season, scoring 168 runs from seven games with a strike rate of 157. He did much better the next season, scoring 353 runs at 169.71 in 14 games.

He was released by PBKS following a dismal 2021 season in which he scored only 85 runs in 12 games.  Later, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) paid INR 10.75 crore to acquire him at the IPL 2022 mega auction.

Pooran achieved the 300-run mark for the second time throughout his IPL career in 2022. But after SRH released him, there was a bidding war at the subsequent auction. Despite interest from CSK, RR, and DC, he was eventually acquired by the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) for an astounding INR 16 crore.

He made an impact for LSG right away, helping the team make the playoffs in 2023 with 358 runs at an amazing strike rate of 172.95.  The contract was extended in 2024.

The enormous ₹21 crore that the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) paid Nicholas Pooran to recruit him for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 may have raised doubts in the minds of some. The only wage that exceeded his, Virat Kohli's salary, was Heinrich Klaasen's 23 crore.

The game-winning score of 70 off just 26 balls was scored by Nicholas Pooran for LSG against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
